New data protection legislation is coming into place…don’t leave it too late to comply

The GDPR legislation from the European Commission is going to effect how most businesses collect, store and process data.

This will have particular impact on B2B marketing activity as a huge focus of the legislation is around consent being obtained when collecting the data.

Companies have been given two years to get their house in order. May 2018 seems like a long way away however you should be putting measures in place today to ensure than when this date is reached, you are still able to communicate with your customers and prospects.

I have heard a number of people speculate that the GDRP may be up in the air since the UK  decided to leave the EU however we will still be forced to comply if we wish to trade with EU countries…

Whilst June 2016’s Brexit vote will undoubtedly have some impact on how all this works in the UK, the fact that GDPR applies to all companies holding data on EU citizens means that many UK businesses that trade with Europe will still need to comply with its rules even after we leave the EU. You can’t afford to ignore it.
